| | Frequently Asked Questions  | 1) How can I access the Members section of this site? If you are a member of the NRFR HOA, contact the Board President or any Board member using the Contact Us link on the left and request login information. There's lots of additional information specifically for owners. |
| 2) How did the Nisqually River Forest Reserve begin? For many years, Weyerhaeuser owned this land as timberland. In the mid-2000's, Weyerhaeuser subdivided it into 77 twenty-acre parcels, improved the roads, created amenities such as trails and parks and then sold the parcels to the public. |
| 3) Is NRFR still considered timberland? Most of it is. Each parcel has its own Timber Management Plan filed with Pierce County which provides excellent tax benefits. But each parcel typically has one acre excluded from the plan to be used for a home and other general uses. Pierce County allows changes to the tax classification but the result can mean higher property taxes. |
| 4) Do owners need special skills to follow their Timber Management Plans? No. There are organizations that will do the work when needed (i.e. thinning), and will pay the lot owner due to the value of the timber. For owners who would like to be more involved, there are organizations that provide workshops on forest management. |
| 5) Does Weyerhaueser still manage NRFR? No. In January of 2007, Weyerhaeuser handed over the management of the NRFR Home Owner's Association to the new owners. |
| 6) Are there Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CCRs)? Yes. The NRFR CCRs primarily involve the protection of the roads and community areas, and the general appearance of the community as a forest reserve. Click the CCRs & Bylaws link to the left to view them. |
| 7) Is there an Annual Assessment? Yes. There is an Annual Assessment in order to maintain roads, community areas and assets of the community. The Association may, by vote of its membership, authorize Special Assessments. |
| 8) Who can I ask if I have other questions? Please email your questions to the appropriate Board member.
